With so many products out there, I know us as makeup artists, are ALWAYS on the hunt for new and better. Some are old that we just haven't discovered......some are brand spankin new. These, are somewhat new to my kit.....and have made it their home.
Kevyn Aucoin - The Celestial Liquid Lighting in Candlelight: The Candlelight powder has been a staple in my kit for years. Then I came across the liquid.... It is so beautiful. It is NOT glittery, nor frosty. It leaves the perfect glow on the skin. For my clients that have normal to dry (even some that have combination skin), I like to mix it with moisturizer and apply allover. For clients that are more on the oily side, I'll just apply to high points (cheek bones, right above eyebrows) of face and then apply an oil-control type of moisturizer on remaining skin.
MAC - Prep + Prime Moisture Infusion Serum: I was introduced to this product by a fellow makeup artist and thought to give it a try. I usually mix the Kevyn Aucoin Highlighter (above) with this product (unless client has very oily skin). If client has extremely dry skin, I will foloww with a hydrating moisturizer. However, I find that this product gives the perfect amount of hydration for most skin types. I really like it.
MAC - Mineralize Charged Water Moisture Eye Cream: I'm really loving this product. It doesn't leave the under eye area too greasy, just hydrated perfectly. I almost always, apply eye makeup first, which 9 times out of 10 will have some sort of fallout. Instead of wiping clean with makeup remover, I'll dab a bit of eye cream on the back of my hand, pick up with either a q-tip or sponge (depending on how much fallout there is) and wipe clean. Kills-two-birds-with-one-stone.....BAMB!
DIOR - Creme de Rose Lip Balm: Smells delish. Hydrates perfectly. NON greasy. A little goes a long way. I have had Kiehl's, Sara Happ, MAC, and Baby Bliss in my kit...this one took the cake.
Lancome - Color Design Shadow in Filigree: This color is gorgeous. In package, picture a color between (MAC's) Nylon and Shroom. However, the texture of this shadow is perfection. I'll add some shimmer to brow highlight, or that perfect highlight to inner corner of eyes. I wouldn't use this as a highlight for cheek bone, as I think it would be too heavy in texture.
House of Lashes - Noir Fairy and Iconic: To be honest, I was a little dissapointed when I received the bulk order I had purchased. The lashes themselves were gorgeous, but the strip looked SO THICK! I thought to myself, these will lay on lid horribly. Well, let's just say that I ran out of the Noir Fairy style and am on my last Iconic style. I found that if I cut the very edge of the inner and outer corners (even when lash fits perfectly on lid), they lay better on the lid (you do have to hold a few seconds longer, so strip doesn't lift). If you are doing a look that calls for little to no liner (and client has small lid/eye), I would recommend using a brand of lash that definitely has a thinner strip. BUT, if you are doing a look that calls for a normal to thick liner, these lashes are perfect. They photograph so beautifully. I just put in another order :)
BECCA - Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in OPAL: I think this ones tops any highlighter that I have used, so far. It can be pretty bold, BUT, when I need to tone it down (after I have applied it), I'll just go over it with a Beauty Blender and soften it out. It's simply gorgeous. Works for all skin tones, other than a very very fair skin. HOWEVER, BECCA released a statement, that they collaborated with Jaclyn Hill and will be coming out with a limited shade called Champagne. From the looks of it, this will fall into that tone for a more fair toned skin.
*note: they have a lighter color called Moonstone, but I feel this color is too frosty for my taste.
Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition PRESSED POWDER: Thank you Thank you Thank you, MUFE! Making this product in a pressed form, was the best thing they could have done. I don't know why I barely discovered this 2months ago. Not sure how long it has been out, but it's perfect. The loose powder was.....EEEEK! This pressed form allows you to pick up the right amount, without having to worry about it photographing wrong. I apply this at the end of makeup application, before I spray with setting powder. F L A W L E S S !!
Hope you enjoyed! Thank you for stopping by!
